How to Apply & Admissions for Undergraduates

Every year the university carefully reviews its admission agreements for admission to the next academic year. When making decisions about admissions agreements, we consider a number of factors including: the academic performance of students who recently entered the university, the external environment in which we operate, and feedback from students, schools and universities.

The following regulations apply to those entering college from September 2021.

We understand that all of our applicants are different and try to enter college with different educational backgrounds and paths. In our decision on your suitability to study at the university and the offer we are making you, we will analyze all the information available through your application form and may contact you to discuss your application in more detail. Some of our courses require a face-to-face or video interview, while others may want to talk to you on the phone. For art courses, we ask you to see a portfolio of your work that will contribute to our decision.

If you are still working towards your qualifications, you will receive a conditional offer. At the University of Bolton, we do not make unconditional offers for planned qualifications. We want you to do the best you can, and we don’t believe unconditional offers are best for students.

We may make you a “better” offer for some of our courses that require fewer UCAS points than previously published. This offer is based on your application, our discussions with you and your prospective qualifications. If we make you a “better” offer we are confident that you have the talent and potential to succeed in the course and we hope that this will relieve your final evaluations and make studying with us more practical.

In addition to all of this, applicants must have academic credentials and a personal statement.

References are an important part of the application process and should include the following information:

Support and punctuality

Academic achievement

Time management skills

Information on extracurricular activities

In the meantime, your personal statement is your opportunity to explain why you would be a great student and a good addition to the course you have chosen. This will help determine who will be admitted to the course along with academic achievement and can summarize:

Why do you want to do the course?

Where is the course taking you?

Information on paid or unpaid work experience

Your interests and hobbies

All full-time student applications are made through UCAS for admission in September. In making your choice, you will need the following information:

Institution Code Name: BOLTN

Institution code: B44

If you are applying for admission in January, you will not be able to submit it through UCAS (other than Nursing, see below) and must do so through the university’s online application form.
